Please visit the pages in the top menu bar for the links to my music, art and writing! Here I’ll share a bit how I came to songwriting.
It was always my dream to be a singer. As a little girl I used to perform in front of the mirror with a tooth brush in my hand. I grew up in the 1990s, so my idols were Britney Spears and the Spice Girls. This is quite embarassing to admit. I loved dancing and expressing myself through art my whole life. For years I had training to play the flute traverse and the drums. I learned to play the guitar and the basics on the piano from my mum. While I was studying I was very lucky to take singing lessons and to be coached by Maria Baumgartner. My voice gained a volume that it hadn’t had before.
I was about 18 years old when I wrote my first song. I realized that I could wait probably for all my life to BECOME a singer. You ARE a singer or not. You just need to start somewhere. So that’s what I did. Later on that year I found myself being the lead singer of a metal band but at some point this didn’t satisfy me although I loved the powerful music. I felt the desire to include my faith and to honor God through my music. I needed to express more of who I am. That simply wasn’t possible with this band.
In the years that followed I wrote more and more songs on the piano and guitar. Simple songs, quiet ones, full of questions and driven by a longing for more of God. Every now and then I would organize a small concert, supported by friends. 2015 I got the chance to sing at Freakstock Festival in Germany. This is my favorite festival and it was really encouraging to be entrusted with the main stage as the opening worship act. I did a combination of my own songs and popular worship songs, and played a second time at the festival. Later that year Michael Alber, a friend of mine, produced my second album “Meeting Grace”. This was an incredible gift for me! Being in a studio is always a highlight – I feel like I want to stay forever and make music for the rest of my life.
In 2016 I gave a concert in Goa, India, under the stars. It was the first time that I played my own songs for a whole evening. It turned out to be very meditative and intimate. A few months later I was back in Switzerland and did an intense recording week in Hamburg for my third album “Everywhere I go”. Marco, a friend of mine with whom I have an ongoing electronic worship music collaboration, produced this album. It’s influenced by my restless travels of the past years – Where ever I went I found God close beside me.
I hope that whoever listens to my music feels a presence, a peace that is more than ordinary. I pray that people would be touched by God’s love. May my music be a path to faith, authenticity and peace.
